MOON 001 Written on January 27th, 2017. The first leader of RootClan was a young tom formerly named Huey: a young, scrappy, and hungry cat who lived in a settlement just outside the oak forest that was one day going to become his future home. Huey considered himself to be one of the decent cats who lived in the campsite - one of the few who was willing to share what meager meals he had with mothers and elders, and one of the few who at least tried to give a cat the time of day. They were the littlest acts of kindness Huey could do, as he didn't want to appear weak to the stronger cats there, who were known to harass him in the past due to his thin frame and small size. Luckily he never got clawed into bits and pieces, though there had been some close calls, sometimes he thought he had some kind of guardian cat-spirit to look out for him every time he got in trouble. Now he realized he wasn't quite far from the 'cat-spirit' fantasy at all, remembering the night a wispy figure silently led him deep within the heart of the forest in his dreams, directing him through the woods until they reached a pool with the clearest water Huey had ever seen in his life. The tom could remember everything in that dream when he awoke and had quickly jumped to his paws and raced through the oaks until he reached the very spot the dream cat led him too. Huey's wide blue eyes simply stared at the pool until he decided to gently touch it with his nose: waking up in a beautiful forest and surrounded by nine fading cats with stars in their fur, they blessed him with knowledge about Clan life and gifted him with nine lives and a new name. Now he was Palestar, the first of his Clan. Palestar still felt like his old self, though now he felt stronger, both physically and mentally as the afterglow of receiving nine lives still coursed through his body. The leader sat in the middle of what had become RootClan's camp, already envisioning it filled with cats from all walks to life who banded together and became even greater than their ancestors in the stars. A proud smirk was on the leader's maw, feeling confident in himself that he would leave quite the legacy behind once StarClan called him home. Speaking of the Clan, Palestar realized he should pay them another visit and ask for their help in getting more cats for his own. He stood up and padded out of the entrance, looking back at his camp before he left.

MOON 002 Written on January 30th, 2017. Palestar was surprised to have found an old friend when he was returning from the Moonpool, her name was Marjorie, a chocolate calico who was the only cat willing to heal any beaten up cats from the campsite where they once lived. She was a smart cat, very knowledgeable with herbs and what to do with them, though she trusted others far too easily and many times had to patch herself up due to being targeted by another cat who took advantage of her kindness. With that in mind, it was no wonder how quickly she agreed to become RootClan's first medicine cat, she had even told Palestar that she was thankful to finally get away from all the trouble of her former life, which made the leader feel quite sympathetic towards the small calico. The two cats had just made their way home, Palestar watching quietly as the newly named Gannetleaf sniffed around the empty dens to find one suitable for a medicine den before she settled in a cave that was hidden by bramble tendrils. "Welp, time to go gathering some more herbs, see you later, Huey." Gannetleaf meowed, a tiny pang of annoyance flashed through Palestar upon hearing his former name, though when it came out from the molly... he didn't quite mind it at all. The pale gray tom chuckled as Gannetleaf left camp before leaving himself to go on patrol.

MOON 003 Written on January 31th, 2017.
"I'm surprised the little guy even knew about RootClan." Palestar and Gannetleaf lay beside each other, sharing a mouse between them as they watched their newest addition, a little tom named Whitepaw sniff around an empty cave that the leader had refurbished into the apprentice's den. Whitepaw wasn't exactly the bravest cat Palestar had ever seen, but then again... he was barely a kitten - around the age most kits were apprenticed. Both he and Gannetleaf both wore frowns as they wondered how the unfortunate kit wound up joining RootClan in the first place and where the rest of his family could be. The medicine cat, in particular, was the most troubled as she was the one who had found Whitepaw and was already growing attached to him. "I suppose we'll have to be his new family now." She mused aloud, making Palestar glance her way. "I suppose so." Palestar replied, he bit into his last share of his meal and licked his muzzle clean of any blood before standing to approach Whitepaw and gently ask him if we wanted to go training. Gannetleaf was surprised at his kindness towards the apprentice, watching as the young tom hesitated before he agreed and followed his mentor out of camp. The calico let out a purr, smiling as she got up to her paws and left camp with the intent to search for more herbs.

MOON 004 Written on January 31th, 2017. Even since he learned how to hunt, Whitepaw started to feel a little more confident in himself, he had a satisfied smile on his face as he placed a little mouse on the fresh-kill pile, which currently held a fair amount of shrews and mice fit for three cats to comfortably eat. The young tom turned to look behind him, noticing Gannetleaf and Palestar talking to each other. Whitepaw couldn't help but feel embarrassed whenever he saw them together now ever since had asked his mentor over whether or not they were mates during his first training session, and got a sharp 'no' in response. Whitepaw couldn't make out what they were saying, only catching Gannetleaf nod her head and Palestar padding towards the camp's entrance. The leader noticed his apprentice's curious expression and smiled down at him as he padded past. "I'm going to patrol, you and Gannetleaf are staying here." He mewed, Whitepaw only gave a weak nod in reply before heading towards the calico medicine cat and smiling at her in a friendly manner.
He liked Gannetleaf a lot, to the point where he considered her a mother figure. "Hi, Gannetleaf. Can I help you with your herbs?" Whitepaw asked, making Gannetleaf purr at him. "Sure thing, kiddo. Let's keep ourselves busy while our good ol' leader's out."

MOON 005 Written on February 1st, 2017.
"I'm going to the Moonpool tonight," Palestar stated to his Clan as he sat in the clearing, looking up at the darkening sky. His three other Clanmates were sharing their evening meal until they had heard the pale gray leader announce of his visit, Gannetleaf was the first to get up to her paws and pad towards her friend, staring up at the sky with him.
"You think I should go too?" The molly asked. "I'd like to know if StarClan exists and if they want me as your medicine cat." Her voice dropped into a low and uncertain tone, causing Palestar to bump his cheek on her own in a friendly manner.
"Well they better, or else I'll knock some sense into them!" He declared, happy to see Gannetleaf smile over something as silly that. The two were interrupted by a questioning meow from their new deputy, Leopardheart, who stared at them with a smirk while Whitepaw stared sheepishly at the ground and shuffled his paws. "In my opinion, I don't think one should speak of StarClan that way, I'd hate to see you both get struck by lightning." She mewed, tapping her unsheathed claws against the ground while Palestar and Gannetleaf looked at her.
"Tsk, suppose you're right. Well, keep RootClan safe while we're gone, yeah? I'd hate to see my Clan in pieces when I come back." Palestar said, nodding his head at Gannetleaf as a signal they were leaving and began padding ahead of his companion. He hoped StarClan would grant them a warrior during this visit.

MOON 006 Written on February 3rd, 2017.
"Ah, Silvercloud. You enjoy being a 'RoofClan' cat?" Palestar mewed with a teasing smirk, chuckling as the silver tom sighed in annoyance and swatted his tail against the leader's flank.
"You're just never going to let that go, are you?" Silvercloud mewed in a less than pleased tone, making Palestar chuckle yet again.
"Nope, never, you'll just have to learn to get used to it." He replied, Silvercloud rolled his eyes and snorted in response, and while Palestar wanted to tease him more, he came over to speak with the warrior for a reason. "That aside, I want you to patrol with Leopardheart by the border. I'd love to go, but I've been neglecting poor Whitepaw lately." The tom meowed, Silvercloud merely grunted in acknowledgment before padding towards the waiting deputy. Palestar watched both cats go, quietly wishing them well, and then turned to see Whitepaw and Gannetleaf outside of the medicine cat's den where both cats were discussing herbs. His apprentice clearly didn't understand most of what the medicine cat was saying, but he was far too polite to outright say that. Gannetleaf on the other paw didn't notice the confused apprentice's expression as she was far too occupied talking about the many ways one could use comfrey root, her blue-green eyes lit up as she continued meowing, making Palestar's own soften at how passionate she seemed. He shook himself out of that brief trance and quickly called Whitepaw over, both toms leaving to train. Palestar missed the loving smile on Gannetleaf's face as they left.

MOON 007 Written on April 6th, 2017.
Astertail had taken a liking towards the sour Silvercloud ever since the gray molly had joined, and while Silvercloud pretended he didn't take notice of her affections - he secretly enjoyed the attention he got from the pretty cat. It wasn't like he made a great deal of hiding his feelings, Palestar had seen right through him the moment he watched the molly pad out of camp with Leopardheart as the two went on patrol. The leader chuckled, grabbing the attention of his moody Clanmate before Silvercloud looked at him with a big frown on his face. "Here to poke jabs at me again?" He meowed pointedly, causing the leader to snort.
"I would never! Not now anyway, but the day is still young." Silvercloud sighed in exasperation, sending his leader a look to get on with it already. "I just wanted to let you know about Astertail, she's a pretty one, truly. You might want to act fast, or she'll be taken away faster then you can say mouse." Palestar meowed, somewhat nervous and curious as to why Silvercloud - of all cats in the world - was laughing.
"And who here would do so? We're not exactly the biggest Clan in the forest." Palestar shrugged then, a little sour as Silvercloud casually mentioned how small their Clan was.
"Leopardheart can worm her way into any cat's heart, and then there's me to worry about." He said, now more than concerned as Silvercloud smirked this time.
"You're busy chasing after Gannetleaf's tail, I doubt you would have eyes for even the prettiest of StarClan when she's here." The silver bengal watched as he saw his leader crumble before him, it was nice to finally get back at the tom who made it his life's mission to antagonize him. Palestar stood up rigidly, his ear tips warm as the warrior opened stated he knew of how deep his care for the medicine cat was. "And who told you that I like Gannetleaf?" He asked, attempting to sound threatening even though his mew sounded weak in actuality.
Silvercloud rolled his eyes, "You just did." he stated. Honestly, Gannetleaf was a lucky guess. Palestar scoffed before ordering his apprentice to come along and train, Whitepaw cast a curious glance at Silvercloud before following his mentor. The white tom was also curious as to why they were avoiding Gannetleaf's scent trail like the plague.
