MOON 001 Written on January 2017. A lone black molly stood in the center of a newly cleaned campground, the cat took a deep breath as she gazed at the empty dens that were dotted nicely in the clearing, she almost couldn't believe that there would be an entire colony of cats that would live here one day and that she was going to lead them - for nine lifetimes at that. The job would be quite demanding and stressful as more cats joined, but Shadowstar was confident in her skills, she had been given the gift of nine lives and leadership by the mystical StarClan after all. If they trusted her enough to give her those gifts, she would have been a fool to doubt them. At the thought of her warrior ancestors, Shadowstar remembered she was meant to visit the Moonpool tonight to consult StarClan and ask for their aid in bringing in new cats to PineClan, she supposed it slipped her mind while she was cleaning up the camp. "I'll need to do that right away." She mused, staring back at her camp and praying it would remain safe while she was away. The black molly nodded indeterminately and ran off to the Moonpool, her nimble and graceful figure dodging obstacles that could've tripped her up easily.

MOON 002 Written on January 2017. It had been a whole moon since StarClan had sent Shadowstar a deputy for her Clan, while the tom seemed clumsy at first glance, he was a responsible and respectful cat who cared deeply about helping their Clan succeed which pleased Shadowstar greatly. The molly liked how he wasn't afraid to express himself and how eager he was to learn about Clan life and how well they got along really well together, despite only knowing him for about a moon, she already considered him a friend. The tom, now named Owlfur, gazed curiously at the territory beyond PineClan's camp and turned to pad towards Shadowstar who was resting underneath the shade of a tree, licking at her chest fur until she heard him approach. The molly looked up at him, waiting for him to speak. "Um, if you're ready, I think it's about time we do an afternoon patrol." He mewed somewhat awkwardly, hoping that he wasn't being too demanding to the leader. Shadowstar nodded at him and stood up, shaking out her fur and stretching her legs. "You're right, let's head out right now." She mewed, padding ahead of him and outside the camp, Owlfur breathed a sigh of relief at her casual response and padded just behind her.

MOON 003 Written on January 2017. The medicine cat that Shadowstar and Owlfur found a moon ago had been dubbed as the shadow of PineClan's camp, she was very quiet and kept to herself. Owlfur had often talked about her behavior to his leader concerning whether she was a good fit to be the medicine cat given her demeanor. "Give her time," Shadowstar would say. "she'll open up to us one day, I'm sure of that." And thus that statement usually ended the conversations. The young molly, now named Skunknose, knew that she would have to speak up one day- she just wasn't good with strangers and it took her a long time to adjust to new surroundings, she hoped the two other cats would understand. Her paws twitched nervously, she would have to go herb collecting again today, or else she feared her herbs would be gone by tomorrow... for some reason. It was unreasonable to be so paranoid, she knew, but had been on her own for so long and overstocking everything she had become an unbreakable habit. Skunknose padded outside her den and approached Shadowstar, her pawsteps feeling more like stone the closer she got and cleared her throat to gain her leader's attention, her brown eyes lowered to the ground as she tried to ignore the curious look the leader gave her. "Yes Skunknose, what do you need?" The leader meowed, her voice didn't have that serious edge to it when speaking to Owlfur, but it was rather soft instead. "I'm uh, going t-to collect some herbs, Shadowstar... I won't be gone long though!" Skunknose said, she waited until she got the 'ok' from Shadowstar to leave, feeling refreshed and happy she approached Shadowstar directly for the first time. Meanwhile, Shadowstar watched her leave with a proud smile on her face. 'I knew she would start warming up to us eventually.' She thought, watching the molly as she went into the forest.

MOON 004 Written on January 2017. "I can do this myself, you know." Meowed the tom as he watched the older molly chewed up the goldenrod into a poultice to place on his wounds, his tail swished from side to side in annoyance and he growled softly as he felt her place a bit of the poultice into a wound on his hind leg. He turned to look at her, his blue eyes were narrowed into slits in an attempt to intimidate her. Skunknose's eyes darted to him as she felt his stare but quickly looked back at his injuries, placing the last bit of goldenrod she had on a gash that was on the tom's belly. 'I wonder what happened to him out there.' The medicine cat thought, though given how angry the tom looked she figured it was best to keep quiet for now. Skunknose then reached for the cobwebs at his paws but was stopped as the tom snatched them up himself and pressed them against his shoulder the best he could, spitting them out and sighed as he saw that they didn't quite stay there like he wanted them to. "...I need some help." He mumbled quietly, not even watching as the molly fixed up the cobwebs. After that was done, the two cats were silent, staring at each other and thinking about what to say next. Before the silence got too awkward, a tom's voice from outside the den broke the silence. "How's he doing, Skunknose?" The voice asked, making the molly jump in surprise over his arrival. "Oh! Uh, stay right there will you?" Skunknose whispered to the tom as she padded out the den, he scoffed and turned his head away from the entrance. "He's f-fine, Owlfur! He's a bit grumpy though..." Skunknose mewed, her voice a little quieter towards the end. Owlfur chuckled, even more so when the medicine cat jumped as she realized that he heard her. "I'd be grumpy if I was injured and by myself in the woods too." He replied, looking at the brown-and-white cat laying in the dim medicine den. Skunknose followed his gaze, hoping he was thinking that she did a good enough job on her first patient. "What- What's going to happen to him now?" Skunknose whispered to the deputy, she hoped that the tom would be allowed to stay, he was very young to be a loner in her eyes. "Ah, I knew I forgot to mention something. Shadowstar's allowed him to stay, permanently if he wants to." Owlfur said. "I'll stay." The tom said, looking up at Owlfur with tired blue eyes, while the two cats were talking with one another he was starting to get sleepy, though he couldn't fully rest until those two would shut up. Owlfur was surprised as he heard the young cat's voice, thinking that he and Skunknose were quiet enough to the point where he couldn't hear. "Glad you're with us, kiddo. I'll have to tell Shadowstar the good news." He was about to go see the leader until the tom spoke up again. "All I know is herbs though, don't know if that's alright with you guys." He moved to poke his den outside the den, slowly as to not disturb his treated wounds. Owlfur nodded, a smile on his face. "That's fine by us, you'll train with Skunknose then. Now, I'll go get Shadowstar to formally introduce you to the Clan, and then I'll go on a patrol afterward."

MOON 005 Written on January 2017. Shrikeface and Mintclaw added life to PineClan with every passing day, and while they adjusted to Clan life, it seemed like Shrikeface was more of a rule-breaker than his sister was as he seemed to find enjoyment flirting with the medicine cat after he saw her for the first time. "You're beautiful, you know." Shrikeface meowed, sounding so sincere this time it surprised Skunknose, her ear tips immediately feeling warm from that single sentence. "Thank you, Shrikeface, I- um..." Skunknose wasn't sure if she should reply, she didn't know if she wanted to flirt back. She did like Shrikeface and thought he was quite handsome, but she was a medicine cat. They weren't supposed to have mates! Right? "You don't need to say anything, just thought you needed the reminder." Said Shrikeface, smirking at how the molly seemed at a loss for words. Mintclaw huffed as she saw her brother with the medicine cat again, she rolled her eyes as she approached Shrikeface to save the poor molly from her idiot sibling again. "Hey mousebrain, Shadowstar wants us to go on patrol with her. If you're done then let's go." She meowed, trying not to swat her brother upside the head and he looked at her with annoyance for interrupting him. "Fine, fine. Let's go, see you later Skunknose~" He said as he left with his sister, but not before giving Skunknose a little smile and a wink, which got Skunknose flustered once again. She was so out of it she didn't even see Weaselpaw approach her from behind, the brown-and-white tom sighed as he recognized his mentor's behavior again. 'Hope I never moon over some cat as she does.' He thought, clearing his throat to get her attention. "Weren't we supposed to go herb hunting again?" Weaselpaw asked once the molly was brought back to earth. "Oh, you're right! Thanks for not letting me forget..."

MOON 006 Written on January 2017. Weaselpaw was regretfully put in charge of watching Shrikeface while his mentor discussed his health with Shadowstar, frankly, he didn't see any need to be so worried over him. It was just a sprain, it wasn't like Shrikeface just suddenly contracted blackcough out of nowhere. Weaselpaw looked at Shrikeface's bad paw, resting on a patch of a soft patch of moss, and hummed to himself. Given its condition (which was minor), the gray-and-white tom would be happily on his paws in about two days like nothing had happened to him at all. 'Thank StarClan, I'd hate to be stuck with that furball for too long.' Weaselpaw thought, he twitched his ear as he heard the soft pawsteps of Skunknose approaching the den, the apprentice made his way over to greet her. "He's fine, just asleep." He meowed before the molly could say anything, judging she was going to ask about him anyway by the worried look on her. "That's good, I'll just stay with him for now." She mewed quietly, making her inside the den and settling down beside the sleeping tom. Weaselpaw wasn't sure she if was looking at Shrikeface with sorrow and longing, but he sure wasn't going to stick around to see that mopey expression for long. "Can I go collect more herbs? And before you ask, I'll take someone with me." He asked, waiting for his mentor's response. Skunknose nodded, "Yes, go ahead. Try and take Mintclaw with you, she was really worried about her brother..." She mewed, still staring at Shrikeface. Weaselpaw nodded slowly, his eyes narrowed and he made a soundless but immature 'bleh!' at Skunknose's actions before quickly trotting out the den and seeing if Mintclaw was able to go with him.

MOON 007 Written on January 2017. Shrikeface opened his eyes which were bleary from sleep, blinking up at the dark gray shape looking down at him. He smiled gently as he recognized the sweet scent of Skunknose, relieved that despite the overpowering smell of herbs that were in the medicine den, he could still make out Skunknose in the midst of them. As his sight cleared up, he could now see the pretty molly clearly, his smile transforming into a grin. "Who's this lovely gal in front of me? I'm not in StarClan yet, am I?" He mewed drowsily, though having enough energy to be flirtatious again. Skunknose once again was caught off guard, though she tried to keep her composure now that they were together as healer and patient. "N- no, you're still alive, thank goodness." Skunknose meowed breathlessly, she hoped that the tom forgot how scared she was when Shadowstar and Mintclaw brought him back from their patrol when he was out of breath and limping heavily into her den. Luckily, he gave no indication, though he seemed curious by what she said. "Would you be sad if I died?" Shrikeface asked, Skunknose hoped she was just imagining the look of hope she was seeing in his eyes. "Of course I would! You're my... Clanmate, after all." She turned her head away from him so she wouldn't have to see his reaction, but she didn't miss the disappointed sigh he made over her reply. She wanted to say something, maybe tell him they should just be friends, but the words kept getting caught in her throat. Shrikeface could sense her discomfort and decided not to pressure her more, he knew it wasn't wise to catch feelings for a medicine cat - his sister had practically beaten that into his head, but he couldn't stop himself from falling even more for Skunknose. He only hoped that maybe one day he would be able to truly tell her how he felt, and he hoped that day would be soon. He watched her look out the den, her side leaning against the side of the entrance and trying not to imagine how it would feel if she was leaning against him instead. "The patrol's leaving again, your sister's going with Owlfur this time." Skunknose meowed awkwardly in an attempt to get rid of the silence. Shrikeface decided to stay silent, not knowing what to add to the conversation. "...I bet you'd like to go with them." Skunknose could feel her heart beating in her chest, hoping she didn't anger the tom to a point where he wouldn't speak with her, her heart rate quickened when she felt him sit by her side. "Maybe. But I think I'd rather be with you."
Mintclaw meanwhile, watched as the deputy vanished through the entrance, looking back behind her to cast one more worried glance at the medicine den. Her green eyes widening in shock as she saw her mousebrain of a brother sit beside Skunknose, she huffed angrily, shaking her head in disapproval. Mintclaw would have to tell her leader about his blooming affair with the medicine cat later, as of now she had a patrol to go on.

MOON 008 Written on January 2017. Early morning sunlight peeked through the small holes of the warriors' den, which was a cozy resting area lined with pine needles underneath a bramble bush. One beam of light, in particular, struck the unfortunate Mintclaw right in the eyes, causing the molly to recoil and shut her eyes even tighter. After a few moments, she regretfully decided to leave the comfort of her moss nest and get ready to start the day - she was a mentor now, after all, she had to get used to getting up early. The warrior padded out of the den and stretched out her legs, noticing the deputy sitting underneath a large oak tree, right underneath the low-hanging branch where Shadowstar made her announcements. Mintclaw made her way over to Owlfur who noticed her right away and gave her a friendly smile which she returned. "G'morning, Mintclaw." He mewed politely after Mintclaw sat down beside him. "Good morning to you too, Owlfur. Are you waiting for Shadowstar?" Mintclaw mewed, figuring this was the only reason the tom was out here by himself. Her suspicion was proved correct after the tom nodded. "You got that right, she asked for us to patrol together last night after she was done with Comfreypaw's ceremony." Mintclaw's ears perked up as she heard the name of her apprentice, still in disbelief that she was a mentor now. "Huh. Well usually I'd go with you, but I want to train Comfreypaw today - is that alright?" She asked, unsure if she needed Owlfur's permission. "She'll need to start her training as soon as she can." Mintclaw swiveled around to find Shadowstar padding towards the two cats, Owlfur did not seem fazed in the least over her sudden appearance. "Good morning, Shadowstar! You ready?" Owlfur meowed, standing up quickly and padding towards Shadowstar's side. 'Sure is a lot happier greeting her than with me.' Mintclaw observed, noticing how fondly Owlfur looked at Shadowstar. "Of course I'm ready, let's be on our way, shall we?" Shadowstar meowed, also surprising Mintclaw with how casual she was with her deputy. She was used to her being so formal with everyone. "Well, it looks like I'll go wake up Comfreypaw, uh, come back safe you two!" Mintclaw mewed, swiftly padding away from them before they surprised her even more this morning.

MOON 009 Written on January 2017. Weaselpaw had always been aware that he was a scrawny and thin cat, but as he sat side by side with Comfreypaw he couldn't help but feel even more self-conscious about his appearance. The pale gray molly was at least four moons younger than him, yet her tall figure and strong muscles made her look like a full-fledged warrior. Weaselpaw involuntarily fluffed up his brown-and-white fur in an attempt to make himself look bigger than he was but to no avail. The warrior apprentice tipped her head, observing the conversation that her mentor and Skunknose were having. "I wonder what those two are talking about?" She mewed curiously, her eyes glittering at the opportunity to find something to gossip about within the Clan. Weaselpaw winced, judging by how his mentor had her head lowered down in shame, it most likely had something to do with her and Shrikeface - who was unaware of the conversation while he was having his own with Shadowstar, who had asked to see him personally ever since Skunknose confirmed he had healed. "Who knows? It's not our business to pry anyway, isn't that right?" He meowed, hoping that his hinting was obvious enough for Comfreypaw to back away for now. The molly knew he was telling her to back off and she pouted at him and rolled her eyes. "I just hope they finish up soon, I want to go training again." Comfreypaw meowed, her sharp claws were unsheathed and lightly scratching the soft soil beneath her. Weaselpaw purred in satisfaction over the change of subject, only shrugging in reply to her this time. He wasn't a warrior apprentice, and he didn't like talking about the training they did. Comfreypaw let out an interested trill as she saw Mintclaw storm away from Skunknose and towards her. "C'mon, Comfreypaw. We're going training." The warrior said, her tail lashing in what looked to be anger as she padded towards the entrance without waiting for her apprentice's response. Comfreypaw exchanged a confused glance with Weaselpaw before she left, trotting to catch up with Mintclaw. Skunknose sighed sadly, watching the molly storm off and out of PineClan camp with her apprentice trailing behind her, she wasn't sure what to expect when Mintclaw invited her to share a piece of fresh-kill with each other after the patrol came back with a big helping of prey, but she should've known that she was going to bring up Shrikeface in their conversation. "She's right though, maybe I am being selfish." She muttered quietly, the warrior's words were heavy on her shoulders, she just hoped she didn't collapse under their weight. "Skunknose, what's wrong?" Said a voice so heart-wrenchingly familiar, she had to force herself not to run to Shrikeface and snuggle deep into his fur. "Nothing, don't worry about me... How's your leg?" She mewed, frowning as Shrikeface didn't look convinced by her words. "You know I'm fine but -" His words lowered to a whisper. "- meet me by the creek later. Please." Skunknose was about reply before a call from Weaselpaw interrupted her. "Hey, Skunknose, can we go collect herbs?" He asked, giving Shrikeface a cold stare. "Yeah, let's get going, Weaselpaw." She mewed gently, sending an apologetic look at Shrikeface as she padded away with her apprentice while the warrior watched her leave until she was out of sight.
