No one ever thought Camp Half-Blood would ever fall. That was until the day the Titans rose back to power. With their hands full upon taking down the Titans, the Greek gods did their best to help the camp. However unprepared for such a fight, those who survived fled across the country and went into hiding. After a long and tiresome battle the gods managed to once again take down the Titans, but this time for good. The camp however had fallen and, with many scattered across the country while others had been laid to rest.
In the midst of the chaos a group of five managed to slip away from it all safely. Led by a golden eyed girl, the group came to a unanimous decision to return to their home state. "Back to Kansas. Damn, I did not want to go back." A raven haired male groaned, finally breaking the silence that had fallen over them. Another raven haired male with glasses let out a small 'tsk' like sound, shaking his head before speaking. "Look, you didn't have to come. We all know how much you disliked back home. We'll be fine without you." He spoke. Of course this sparked the two raven haired males to begin bickering back and forth with one another.
Haunting in her tracks, Shade turned to face the squabbling pair, glaring at them both. "Will you two quit? You act more like a married couple than brothers." She hissed. This caused a few giggles to come from the other two members of the group. "Shade is right. This is a serious situation and you two can't seem to get along for more than an hour." A white haired girl spoke. The two raven haired boys stopped, the one with glasses letting out a small sigh. "I'm sorry Shade." He softly said. "It's alright Alex. It hasn't been easy for any of us to lose a place we could truly call home." Shade spoke, giving Alex a pat on the shoulder. The other raven haired male rolled his eyes before running a hand through his hair and smirking as he stepped closer to Shade. "Come on Shade, darling, we all know you can't stay mad at me forever either." He purred, throwing an arm around her. A noise of disgust came from the white haired girl followed by a giggle from the child she was carrying. Shade sighed, slipping out from the man's grasp and shook her head. "Enough games Jackal. There's no time." At these words the smirk on Jackal's face faltered slightly before he sighed. "Alright alright. No more games." He said, throwing his hands up a bit in defeat.
With things settled down once more, Shade turned to the white haired girl and child. "Luna, you want me to take Max for a while?" She asked, holding out her arms to take the child. "Auntie Lu won't say no, but she deserves a break too." Max happily chimes in, reaching out for Shade. Luna chuckles, having no choice but to hand the young brunette over. "Thank you, Shade. We both know this little guy will take any chance to spend with his big sister." Luna chuckled, reaching over and ruffling up Max's hair. The group all let out a soft chuckle before once again making their way down the street.
Jackal, being the way he was, had made many connections along the way before he arrived at Camp Half-Blood months after Shade and the others had. Those connections were finally paying off now, especially since no one in the group had a car. "We're almost there. They said we don't have to even bother returning the darn thing. It's just an old beat up car that'll hopefully get us the rest of the way.. Luke said we can do what we want with it once we're done with it too." He explained, a large gray house coming into view. Parked in the driveway sat a semi dusty black 2015 Toyota Camry. "There it is." Jackal said, jogging over to the car. Taped to the windshield was an envelope with Jackal's name on it. Snatching it, the raven haired man opened up to find a note and the key to the car. "Luke says hi and hopes this will help us on our journey. He apologizes that he can't be here, but he’s been working more and more." Jackal said, stuffing the note and envelope in his pocket before using the key to unlock the car so everyone could pile in.
—
The car unfortunately died just as the group made it into Kansas, leaving them scrambling to figure out how to get to Wichita with no car. The journey thus far had been rough, but they had hope once more upon receiving a message from the Gods. A large amount of land was bought so Shade and the group could set up a new camp for the demi-gods and others. However everything was short lived. With monsters constantly around just about every corner they knew it would be sooner or later that they would attack. Shortly after the group managed to find a place to stay while they figured out their next step, they were attacked.
Everyone knew where they were to go, yet it was still hard for Shade to watch Luna, Alex and Max go one way while Jackal tried his best to pull Shade away from the monsters. "Max!" Shade screamed, terrified she'd never see her little brother again. "We'll keep him safe, Shade! Promise you'll fight to survive and We'll see you again!" Alex shouted back, making sure Luna and Max got away safely before following behind them. "Come on Shade… My brother will keep them safe." Jackal sternly said. Shade looked at Jackal, tears on the verge of falling as she watched the others disappear. With no weapons to fight the monsters the best option was to flee, Shade giving in and letting Jackal pull her away.
With the group now separated, Shade felt more on edge than she ever did before. She was worried about her friends and her little brother, but did her best to remind herself they would be okay. "Come on Shade, darling, it's alright. We both know my brother will do everything in his power to keep Luna and Max safe. Not just because they are friends, but because he's always had a crush on you." Jackal spoke, his signature smirk plastered on his face. Shade laughed, shaking her head a bit. " Alex has a crush on me? Please." Shade scoffed, although part of her thought he always did. All three of them grew up together, discovered they had godly fathers, been through the good and the bad, and just about everything in between. Back when they were teens. Before Shade realized how much of a handful Jackal was, she had a massive crush on him. Back then Jackal hadn't changed his name and was still using his birth name Mark.
Although he was always a pain in the ass, Shade always had a soft sport for him. Maybe she herself never fully got over her silly little crush. "Come on… stop playing around… let's just get to where we need to." Shade huffed, doing her best to ignore the old feelings that seemed to spark back up from the old days. Jackal chuckled, shrugging a bit as he walked beside her. "You'll see. Just you wait." He teased. Shade just shook her head, not bothering to make some retort back, letting silence fall between them. With no car and having to remain extra villagers, the two decided it would be best to buy camping gear. They could use it as a portable place to sleep, saving their remaining money for food.
"We'll travel during the day, take turns sleeping for a few hours, and then travel more at night on foot." Shade spoke, looking over the map to avoid looking at Jackal. By now the two had been traveling together a few days now, knowing they still had at least another three or four days left before they were even close to their destination. Jackal had been growing restless, using what little free time they had to go off to do gods' know what, or who. It for some reason had begun to irritate her more and more. "And no, we will not be making any more unneeded stops." Shade practically hissed, folding up the map and putting away. Jackal couldn't help but chuckle before fake pointing and giving Shade the puppy dog eyes. "Aw why so mad Shade, darling?" He asked. Rolling her eyes, the black haired girl briskly walked past him, shoving the raven haired man out of the way. As Shade passed him, Jackal reached out and grabbed her wrist, spinning her around until her back was against a wall and she was once again facing him.
Jackal let out a soft chuckle mixed with a growl before stepping even closer. "Oh, is someone jealous?" He teased. "And here I thought you didn't care." Jackal purred. "Jackal…" Shade spoke, her voice seeming to catch in her throat. He was so close, he was always so flirty, but that was just his personality. Jackal smirked, knowing exactly what kind of effect he had on her. "Hm?" He asked, raising an eyebrow and leaning even closer until their faces were inches away. Shade's heart rapidly thundered in her chest, her head felt fuzzy, and felt like butterflies were about to explode from her stomach. "Looks like Alexander has some competition." Jackal whispered in her ear, pulling away and motioning for her to lead the way once more.
Shade stood there in a daze before giving a small shake of her head. As she passed him once more, Shade shoved him out of the way slightly as she grumbled to herself. Seeing Shade in a tizzy compared to her usual composed self was always entertaining, never failing to get a few laughs out of Jackal. "You never cease to amaze me." He purred, following alongside her. Shade let out a small huff, shaking her head, not daring to make a comment as it would only entertain him more.

**Present**
All alone Shade stood in front of a large unique looking willow tree, a faint mist stretching along the length of the forest on both sides of her. "This has to be it…" she murmured, stepping around the tree and into the mist. Once past the magical misty barrier everything opened up into a large clearing with large buildings everywhere. This was definitely the place, after all it was practically the same set up as Camp Half-Blood. At the heart of the area stood sixteen massive homes. One for each God. "I really hope the others find this place soon. I can't run a camp on my own." She chuckled.
Alone in such a large empty place made Shade feel small, and even more lonely than she already was. "I suggest you start by having me deliver a message to the others. They can help guide someone to help get this place up and running." A voice spoke from behind her. Shade jumped, turning around to find a blonde haired gentleman with unusual winged saddles. "Hermes." Shade spoke, clearing her throat and calming her nerves. "Apologizes for startling you. Was not my intention. But I can deliver a message to the others. Maybe one of the gods could answer your request and send one of their children your way." Hermes spoke. Shade eagerly nodded her head, knowing exactly what God to ask for her first request. "Hecate. My message is for Hecate. Have her send a message to Luna. I could really use her healing talents." She explained. Hermes took out a small notebook and pen, jotting down some information before closing it and putting it away. "Okay. I can do that. I suggest for now to get busy collecting supplies and adventuring to nearby towns and such to see if there are any demi-gods nearby. There is a good chance you could find others that aren't demi-gods, but children of other creatures." With that Hermes gave a small bow and was gone in the blink of an eye, leaving Shade alone once more.
With a lot of time just to herself, Shade got to thinking about recent events that led her to arrive alone. Things had been fine at first until Jackal and her started to but heads. He began by doing everything in his power to slow their travel, not fully wanting to commit to something like camp Half-Blood again. Shade on the other hand wanted to get back to things, be somewhere safe again rather than having to move over and over. Their last conversation played over and over again in her head.
**Flashback**
Jackal and Shade were just a day's travel away from the new camp they'd call home. Shade was growing more anxious by the minute, wanting to get there in hopes the others were there or there were signs of them nearby. "Shade, darling, why don't we just stay here in the city? Just the two of us." Jackal asked, throwing an arm around her as the pair of them walked down the street to the nearest bus stop. Shade sighed heavily, a bit annoyed with his question as he seemed to ask multiple times a day no matter where they were. It was always let's stay here and forget about rebuilding. Let's start a life together and yatta yatta yatta. Tired of it, Shade finally snapped, stopping and turning to face him. "You know what? You stay then if that's what you want. I want my family back, Jackal. That includes the other three and the rest of the camp." She stated firmly. Jackal gapped at her as she spoke, surprised by the firm and angry tone she had. "You know what. Fine. There are plenty of others who would be more than happy to have me." He growled. "Then fucking leave! No one is making you stay!" She shouted.
The two stood there in silence, people passing by them and giving them looks for fighting out in public. "Fine!" Jackal shouted back, turning on his heels and storming off. Shade angered watched as Jackal walked out of few, feeling an over whelping sensation of anger and sadness. "I don't need him. The camp will be better off anyways." She muttered, heading to the bus stop to await the next bus. If Sue was better off without him then why did she feel so empty without him. Not once had the two of them ever fought like that, not even when they were kids.
**End Flashback**
Shade had worked hard most of the day, cleaning up things and getting familiar with the area. Exhausted and feeling bummed out from her thoughts, Shade had picked out her room in the Apollo house and decided to stay inside the rest of the night. With a heavy sigh, Shade fell onto the bed face down, screaming into the blankets to release some pent up emotions. The raven haired girl stayed like this for a few minutes before rolling over and staring up at the ceiling. "Tomorrow will be a new and better day…"
