Overview
HyruleClan is heavily inspired by the Zelda franchise, most notably Breath of the Wild.
HyruleClan's territory is wide and varied, including desert in the southwest, icy mountains in the northwest, volcanic areas in the north, jungle in the south, and more temperate regions in the center and southeast. The cats of HyruleClan generally focus their efforts in the more hospitable regions of Central Hyrule and Necluda, which consist of grassland, scattered woodlands, rivers, and hills. Cats better acclimated to the harsher regions may make excursions in search of rarer resources. I may be lifting this directly from the overworld in BotW.
Prey consists of sparrows (1), frogs (1), lizards (2), squirrels (2), pigeons (3), and various types of fish (3). Predators include foxes, coyotes, wolves, bears, hawks, and monsters including bokoblins, lizalfos, moblins, lynels, and hinoxen. Deer, buffalo, moose, goats, boar, cattle, and sheep also exist in various parts of the territory.
Traditions
- HyruleClan cats' names consist of a root describing their appearance and an affix describing one of their notable skills or qualities. Affixes are given to cats upon reaching adulthood, typically when a cat is promoted to soldier or forest dweller. The affix can be placed either before or after the root. For instance, a cat named Moon may become either Silentmoon or Moonshroom.
- Upon death, HyruleClan cats travel to the Spirit Realm, where they will exist indefinitely. Cats with unfinished business or who need to transmit a message to the living may linger on the living plane as spirits, but will move on once their business is complete.
- It is believed that if a cat is not properly lain to rest, they may become a stalfos, an undead skeleton.
- Satori Mountain, a peak in the west, is believed to be the most spiritually powerful place in Hyrule. Living cats travel here when they wish to contact the Spirit Realm. (Moonpool equivalent)
Ranks
Royal
The royal is the "leader" equivalent of HyruleClan. There is only one royal, and they have only one life. A royal will typically appoint their successor before their death. In lieu of a chosen successor, the cat who has held the title of royal guard the longest will become the next royal. A royal will adopt an affix that recognizes their "royal" status (monarch, queen, king, etc.)
Royal Guard
Royal guards are the "deputy" equivalent of HyruleClan, though multiple cats can hold the title of royal guard at once. They are expected to advise and protect the royal as well as help to lead the Clan. Royal guards are appointed by the royal and are typically cats with significant offensive or stealth ability. Typically, one royal guard is appointed for every 20-30 cats.
Knight
Knights are older, experienced warriors. Soldiers become knights upon reaching 65 moons of age.
Soldier
Soldiers are young warriors who have finished their training.
Traveler
Travelers are HyruleClan's "apprentice" equivalent. Most travelers are adolescents in training, though new cats who join the Clan in adulthood are also often ranked as travelers for several moons before acclimatizing to Clan life.
Forest Dweller
Forest dwellers are cats experienced in medicine who have a strong spiritual connection - HyruleClan's "medicine cat" equivalent. The most experienced forest dweller is ceremonially known as the Lightscale, though this is not a formal rank in and of itself.
Parents
Parents are any cats who are taking temporary or permanent leave from warrior or forest dweller duties to care for kits.
Retired
Retired cats, sometimes called retirees, are cats that have taken permanent or indefinite leave from soldier duties, typically due to old age or injury. This rank is HyruleClan's "elder" equivalent.
