High up in the canopy layer of a tropical rainforest, the branches interlocked tightly, obscuring the dens skilfully made out of branches and vines. This is where LyricClan lives, too high up for most creatures from the ground to reach. They are usually extremely skilled climbers. If the need arises, however, they will consider adding a sub-camp on the forest floor for those less capable of climbing and moving among branches. Their territory barely concerns the ground and is mostly on the canopy level. However, they still patrol the ground level and look out for carcasses left behind by other predators, along with other random goodies. The rainforest has a high population of various types of herbs, and as such the clan doesn't need to go far to find them. Tucked away in a hole in the side of one of the trees in the territory was a small, mysterious, unidentifiable plant that seemed to hum with energy. Its appearance was that of a bird's nest fern, but multiple flowers-a daisy, a lily, a rose, a sunflower, a dandelion, a geranium, and an orchid-grew out from its middle. The entire plant was surrounded by an aura of rainbow light that swirled and danced. Some cats claimed that the light formed figures on the sides of the hole. Sometimes, it would emit hums, and cats may hum in return to sort of communicate with it-though some are more talented than others. The cats call it the Marblesong Flower, due to its aura and humming tendencies. The hums are unique for every single cat, and this is a language that you must understand by heart, not by learning. - Melody: The clan's Leader. Melodies receive 9 lives. Melodies are in charge of most clan decisions, though Harmonies may step in to help. There is always only one Melody. They will gain the suffix -song.
- Harmony: They are the equivalent of Deputies, the co-leaders of the clan with a single life. They usually end up succeeding the Melody following death or retirement. They help the Melody with decisions. There is usually a single Harmony.
- Major: The equivalent of a Medicine Cat, Majors are expected to help treat physical injuries of any cat. They are not expected to help with mental conditions, though it is best for them to have some idea of how to do so. They must be at least 12 Moons of age.
- Minor: This is basically a Medicine Cat Apprentice. They learn from Majors about the uses of herbs and how to treat different conditions. They must be at least 6 Moons of age.
- Tenor: The equivalent of Warriors, Tenors are the ones who hunt and fight for the clan. They must be at least 12 Moons of age. They should have a perfected internal metronome that they can use at will.
- Bass: The equivalent of Apprentices, Basses learn skills from Tenors to eventually grow into Tenors themselves. They must be at least 6 Moons of age. They use the suffix -score. They are expected to start having an internal metronome of their own.
- Soprano: Queens equivalent. These are the cats who are nursing or about to give birth to Altos. They may also be a Perma-Soprano who care for the Sopranos and Altos. They may return to their duties as early as 3 Moons after the birth of their Altos.
- Alto: Kits equivalent. The kits of the clan, below 6 Moons in age. They have the suffix -note. It is recommended they start learning an internal metronome.
- Accompaniment: Elders equivalent. These are the eldest cats of the clan, at ages of 100 Moons and above, though they may also be younger cats with a severe disability or those who have chosen to retire early.
- Every cat in the clan must have some sort of internal metronome so learning songs is easier. It's usually unique to everyone but it's fine to base your own off of someone else's metronome. This also helps one in communicating with the Marblesong Flower.
- Names: Each cat is tied to a unique song, either from birth or when they are given a clan name, given by the Marblesong Flower. Their prefix must be an important word from the song, and the suffix can be anything.
- When a cat passes away, their song is sang for them during their burial to help them move on. Might be awkward if you get tied to something cheerful, but tradition is tradition.
- The cats believe the Marblesong Flower has magical properties.
- Sometimes the Marblesong Flower would emit a hum that meant a Melody may place a request, and the Melody may respond with a request as specific or general as they want. A cat would then turn up on the territories at some point of time within the next Moon according to the request.
- Cats' spirits are believed to find rest more easily when laid to rest near the Marblesong Flower, so their bodies are usually buried at the roots of the tree where the Flower grew. Curiously, the bodies always disappeared within a day or two.
- Sometimes the Marblesong Flower would emit certain songs with lyrics to teach the cats songs from the humans.
